Need rear springs for 2009 Saturn Astra XE (4 door)
I need rear springs for my 2009 Saturn Astra XE. My mechanic said that sections of both springs broke off at some point, likely before I bought the car.
Photos I took seem to back up his claim. It is still very driveable but the springs should be replaced for safety and comfort. I guess the shocks are okay. Question is, where can I buy them? Would a Chevy Cruze have the same? Unless there is a wreck somewhere in Canada or USA, would I have to search European sources? Thank you. |
Ebay uk is a great source for Astra parts

Thanks, I did not know about shipping issues from UK to Canada was an issue. It ij just tariffs or more than that? I would definitely expect to pay stiff tariffs shipping here. Our L series cars are also European designed cars and more parts are available from across the sea.

I think it might be they don't ship to Canada at all. That is at least true of many Euro sites. Maybe something to do with the Euro union.

We get some parts from eBay from UK and Euro sellers. Not all will ship to North America but a lot will.
Amazon has more parts now too. That said, I would try to source any electronic sensors from a dealer or more reliable source. |
Recently, we have found that shipping from various European countries has been very fast. I think eBay and Amazon have some shipping programs so more parts are available IME.
For US residents, we'll have to see how upcoming tariffs will impact these types of purchases (by the end of the month?). I suppose that will vary by country and hope that small items are given a pass. We should leave any political opinions out of the automobile forums. |
We don't have political discussions on this forum. Not the place for it and we all remain respectfully friendly ish. Green eggs and ham is as political as we get.
We run this forum wide open as long as people use common sense wrt what they post. People get one warning for some stuff, 0 for others. |
For the 5-door Astra, there are rubber seals at the b-pillar (between the front and rear door windows) that tend to disintegrate.
New replacements have been difficult (or expensive) to find for several years. But there seems to be a new production run from several sellers on ebay, amazon, and allibaba. We purchased from ebay - Bross Auto parts (from Turkey; arrived to US in 4 days). Stamped IDs on the back look similar to our OEM ones from 2008 albeit with no GM logo (and different part numbers, which might correspond to the new Peugeot system but am not sure about that). The Bross replacement fit our Astra perfectly. Look and feel OEM but no GM or Peugeot bag. Still, I would recommend these. The GM OEM part numbers are 13123710 13123711 (left and right, respectively). Our install (couldn't find any instructions): - Gently remove the old rubber seal - Gently remove 3 yellow christmas tree clips (we used a credit card then a plastic scraper) - Clean all goo from b-pillar and door edges/insides which contact the seal (we used paint cleaner then macguires polish with a microfibre cloth) - Install 3 chrismas tree clips into the back of the seal. The clips have a "tab" which need to be oriented to slide them into the plastic. (we reused old yellow clips) - Then gently pressed the seal into the b-pillar. We started at the top, middle, bottom - Let it sit for a few minutes to flatten - Carefully close doors to check for fit |
