Hi Derf - I didn’t express my thoughts carefully enough on the parts list - I did indeed get new control arms and sway bar links from partsavatar. I couldn’t figure out if Rockauto had to apply the Trump tariffs for a Canadian order so I just bought the parts domestically to avoid the hassle. I take your point on old parts, quite right. It took me a few scrap yards to find the strut mounts with some life left in them and that the mechanic thought suitable to use. The car is up and running and we are delighted.

Hi AstraFasta - I agree that the sporty suspension of the XR 2-door coupe has caused lots of extra looking when it comes to the correct parts. I had the same problem with the steering rack which was specific to the model. Thank you for all your research - super valuable!!!
