Awesome news that it wasn't something in the wiring and you got it fixed. As you can tell, there's not many Astra owners here, but I suspect that in time those numbers will go up somewhat. That's due to the saturnfans site being defunct nowadays.

Thanks ! But it was the wiring too , took out the entire wiring harness and ripped all the tape and plastic, there's a fuse in there, was bad, took it out and rigged in another

WoWzer a real PIA, but aren't they all. By the time I get info, I'll probably find the answer, hopefully. But for others sake as time and rust, corrosion, moths, the answer will be for others,or an other. I have a U.S. 2008 Saturn Astra XR with 200 grand on it (i wish). Engine great, steering decent, new alternator, water pump, brakes ready for install. New alternator because the one that was in it 2 years ago fried 3 batteries until I realized it was the CuLPrit. A Bad diode fed excessive voltage to the batteries, frying three. So now, 2 years, the starter does not click. I am trying to find the relay positions in the big black fuse box. Well, all I know is 30/87 positions on a Hella of a relay (really, Hella is THE NAME?), but there are dual relays, seemingly close to one another. No click, no sound, just idiot lights, Idgit like me. (I need a new relay too). What in the?! If ppl put up a fuse diagram, why not put the diagram with all the relays there? They are there, but with no numbering system. Just blank squares! Why do they not number them? Too many characters,. to much ink? So I'm trying, forward on, "skeleton, skelly forth" (Army of Darkness quote), trod-ding, prodding, pushing the ludicrous limit, maybe I'll find plaid and escape in this Astra Winnebago(promptly named in the Cosmos) and go! (excuse me, tinkle!) So I will return with my facts. Usage, and mileage may vary along with understanding of this phantasmagorical post. I'LL B BAH-CK!

I was having a similar issues. And it turned out to be the voltage regulator. The one brush was stuck.
