Warped Rotors - What Are Performance Aftermarket Brake Options?
 

My SC2 came with fresh aftermarket brakes - pads and rotors installed already. They stop fine - however I do nothing but highway driving really so I am making LOTS of higher speed stops. Thus in 3 months of owning the car I put over 5,000 miles on it and nearly 3,000 into it I noticibly warped the front rotors. Not surprising - but it's starting to get annoying. I'm likely going to attempt one cut to smooth them out with an on-car brake lathe. If that doesn't resolve the issue (and I doubt it will) - has anyone had any luck with GOOD aftermarket brakes for these cars?

Why wouldn't resolve the issue, thats why the world has brake lathes. Will it keep it from happening again?, NO, but keeping your rear brakes adjusted will help them last much much longer. The self adjusters on S-Cars just do not pull the rears tight enough. Something I figured out in 1998 when my 92 SL2 needed rotors done for the second time. Turn your rotors and hand adjust the rears every 6-7K and the rotor problem will go away.

Gotta agree with the on wheel service idea, pretty much bogus when you can pull them with out thinking about them too hard and have them done for about $10.00 or less per rotor.
My 94 coupe is 4 wheel disc so don't have the drum problem, but I also do my own work on most everything and have never had a rotor warping problem unless had mucho miles on a turned rotor and used it too hard. Like almost 200,000 miles? Or I bought a set of rotors for one of my cars that were just poor quality and was not able to deal with those.
My suggestion would be to go to a 1st class autoparts store with premium parts such as NAPA or Carquest and buy new rotors.
Personally I see no value in the latest fade premium brakes unless you just want to spend the money on the Bling factor.
Not that I have never done anything like that of course.
