Saturn SC2 Coupe California Dreams Spoiler Question

OK - Hi!

I recently bought my 3rd S series Saturn - first SC2. I bought a 2002 SC2 manual trans fully loaded with just over 102K very well cared for miles from the second owner. It has a few "rare" Saturn options - sport pedals, shifter and the "California Dreams Spoiler." Aside from the typical water in the spoiler - (which I'll need to know where to drill/drain also) - how does one get it to not bounce/vibrate as you drive. It's a VERY flimsly spoiler, and if it wasn't an OEM Option I'd of removed it by now personally.

Thanks in advance for any tips/help.

You don't, and if bounces around real bad it could be a cheap aftermarket clone

That's a nice looking whip. But that spoiler really needs to go if it bothers you. I doubt that it really does anything for performance.

Is this the spoiler you have on the car?

I think you are going to have to klick on the proper selection on this url to see it.
If so, it is an aftermarket vendor that makes it and apparently still in business. You might be able to get information from them.
I never really liked the 3 door when they came out, but this one looks pretty good.
California has had a reputation to dealer build some very interesting variations of over the counter cars. A number of cars come to mind that I have seen in my life that were only available in California. Mustangs among them.
I wonder if this is one of them. An assemblege of parts installed by the dealer and sold under some marketing name or another.

That is one of the Saturn sold spoilers, and they do vibrate when going down the road. BUT the cheap aftermarket clone vibrates and looks like it's going to come apart when heading down the road.

you could epoxy some evenly distributed weights to the underside to give it more mass and a lower resonance frequency,

That should work fine until the added mass weakens the mounting points and the thing actually does fly off .

Hope I'm not the guy behind you

The spoiler is a "Genuine" California spoiler - and it has a little bit of a "wiggle" to it @ highway speeds or over hard bumps. It's nothing MAJOR - but noticeable when looking out the rear view mirror. If there was a known update/repair kit for these spoilers I would look into performing such - but it sounds like it's a live with it or remove it situation. I will continue to live with it since I suspect the trunk would have holes in it if I removed it.

Thanks
