I started to notice water trickling down the right front
passenger area of my ''98 Saturn SC2 located down by the
firewall and inner fender. I''ve poured buckets of water
on the outside with the door closed but I''m unable to
locate the leak. Is there a possible seal or commonality that goes bad and is easy to replace? I
know it''s not the door seal because water isn''t coming
down by the door. I removed the carpet and peeled back
the trim but I can''t find anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

A really wild guess would cause me to crawl under the car, and look to see if the drain hose from the air conditioning box is clogged

Thanks for the reply. Its not the air conditioner
because I cleaned out all the water, it rained and their
was a good 1/4" of water again and I never ran the air
conditioner. I tore apart underneath the glove box and
stuffed some paper towels to see what gets wet the next
time it rains.

Just a curious question here - is your vehicle equipped with a sunroof?

Low Saturn Oct 18, 2008 10:45 PM

Your sunroof drains are most likely clogged.

It has a sunroof. Had problems with it leaking before
but its not wet anywhere along the roof. I''m wondering
if its draining down the passenger side and getting
clogged somewhere towards the bottom. Would water get
in even though its shut?

Yes it will, that is why they construct them with drains. The line runs outboard and down the roof pillar ... sounds like it is plugged

Thanks again to LowSaturn a picture is worth a thousand words

Yes Thank you LowSaturn, I think I''ve found the source
to my problem. I opened the sun roof to see if water
was laying where it was supposed to drain. I then tried
closing the sunroof and my neighbor, who was helping at
the time, noticed a piece had broken off the right
track. That piece is what sucks the roof closed and
seals it. Since it was broken it was shutting the roof
but wasn''t sealing. Why the water made its way down to
the floor without getting my interior roof wet is beyond
me. Anyone know of Saturn salvage sites I can request
this part from?
