I have two 97 sc2's and in the first spark plug hole there is oil and it is on both just more in one than the other why is it like this and is it supposed to be like this?

Oil in the spark plug hole?... no there shouldn't be any oil sitting in there. clean it out really well with some rags and degreaser. Let us know if the problem persists -S-Turn- |
I can relate... My 97 always seems to have oil sitting on the head in the spark plug groove...

well, the DOHC is a different configuration than my car, but i'd take a stab at a bad valve cover gasket. is it all the spark plug holes that fill up with oil? -S-Turn- |
My gasket is fine (saying as I just replaced it...) But I have new spark plugs and wires as well so I don't get any into the holes. The oil just tends to appear there... Granted, I have a massive oil leak from a few of my pulley seals... But that couldn't cause it, right? lol

on both my staurn sc2's its just in the first one none of the other ones i guess ill know if it was a gasket because i have to change timing chain covers from one motor to the other cuz one is broke.

Oil is pooling in the spark plug hole on a "TWINCAM" ? Change the cam cover gasket. Edited by: sw2cam

I had oil on the threads of 3 of mine, just on the threads, now where else. Could that also be the gasket?
|
On the threads is fine. Youll have oil on the top of the plug if its the gasket
