coolant leaking when hot
the other day i drove my car for about 30 mins. and was sitting in a drive thru for about 5 min. and when i parked it there was coolant leaking out the right side of my engine and it all drained out. so the next day i refilled it and i have been driving it around and it has not done it again. any ideas.

Look for the source of the leak? .... seems like a no-brainer. Start by checking the coolant cap, bottle, water pump.
|
thats the problem ever sense that day it has not leaked again. someone said maybe the thormostat was stuck and it was leaking but if that is possable where is it leaking from.

Could it be that excessive pressure buildup triggered the pressure relief valve on the cooling system? This should not happen under normal circumstances unless you have a partial or complete blockage in the cooling channels or the radiator.
Year/model/mileage? And when was the last time you had the cooling system flushed? |
99 sc1 120,000 miles....................and i has ben a while for flush. if thats the case what should i do and how do i figure out if that was it.
|
I would have cooling system power flushed and watch what gets flushed out in real time. You can also have the reservoir cap tested to ensure the pressure relief functionality is operating at the correct pressure.

so just so i know if it was the water pump gasket, it would leak all the time right.
