clutch replacement-94sc

is it possible to install a clutch disk backwards? my son and I did the replacement (disk pressure plate t/o bearing). When completed the tranny would not go into gear.Replaced the mc and sc as a unit.A sealed system.Still would not go into gear, pedal pressure feels good.Someone wrote that there are two designs for the mc/sc unit.I bought mine at O'Reilly, part #p f h k001 It appeared identical and installed with no problem. The car will shift thur all gears when not running, and will start in gear. When started in frist gear, the car wants to start moving forward as the brake pedal is released with the clutch pedal depressed. Any thoughts on this will be greatly appricated. Thanks ps.the sc has the dohc engine

The fingers on the pressure plate are not being depressed enough to move the clutch plate away from the clutch disk.

Clutch pedal cable/rods mis-installed (or too short) Make sure you got the right mc/sc package for your car

Could be a bad T/O bearing install (bearing on the wrong side of the clutch fork)

Gonna have to pull it back apart to make sure your original re-assembly was correct

And to add to OceanArcher, yes a clutch disc can be installed backwards. Whether this one can be or not, dunno, but others I have worked on could have been.
