98 SC1 -> SC2 Conversion

What should I do when I am thinking about converting my SC1 to an SC2? What is involved? I hear it is just the top end and the timing chain, but I am sure its more complicated than that. Please, any help is better than no help.

Without the sensors and computer to control everything you have nothing but a mess. Get a DONER car and start the conversion including wiring, and computer.

No need to double post we can all see and read. As stated, get a doner car or forget about it.

yes, it would work. But you would still need a computer and engine wiring harness for it to be all hunkey dorey. (If you do buy that engine and go to a boneyard - any harness/computer from 96-98 will work. )And, if you ever want the check engine light to go away, the proper DOHC transmission.

The trans however will work either way, so its not the biggest worry. If you do change the transmission, any year will work (91-02 , earlier years will have different coil pack mounting locations)
SOHC trans has longer gears = slightly higher top speed (if your interested in that) and more gas mileage (yay econoboxing!) but the acceleration wont be as great (but clearly better than a SOHC)
The DOHC trans is opposite. Better acceleration, tops out around 115~120 (depending on how brave you are haha) and still great gas mileage
