never heard of only half the cyl's firing w a bad cps -- usually all or none
glad that's fixed |
lol not fixxed or evein in my name yet ... im pickin it up this weekend ... but i got that part anyway since it was only 15 dollars ... not really loosing anything so its worth a shot cause my one friend said his co-worker had the EXACT problem and all he did was replace that sensor ... and i did some research and it almost adds up
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crankshaft_position_sensor ...." This sensor is the most important sensor in modern day engines. When it fails, there is a chance the engine will not start, or cut out while running.[citation needed]" |
The comment on the crank shaft position sensor is generically true up to a point. But to assume that is the problems is ignoring all the other sensors a modern car still has on them that also affect how things run. And ignoring that leads to spending a ton of money to buy parts to replace because it worked for your friends.
A diagnostic that would lead me to replacing the cranck shaft position sensor is one that starts with looking up the codes you get when you read out the computer errors. Or when I remove it to inspect it pull out a bunch of broken parts. |
well ... the way i do it is start with the cheapest fixes first and work way to bigger expenses ... process of elimination lol
