I have a 93 saturn sc2 auto. I haven't driven it in about 8 months. I recharged the battery and drove it to a car wash to clean it up to sell. Halfway there, I was driving at about 30mph and the engine died, no stuttering or anything, just shut down. Now I can't start it again. It's a brand new battery with clean posts and cables. It cranks with plenty of power to start, but just never starts up, just turns over.

I pulled a spark plug and the plug and plug socket had oil on them. Like there is just a pool of oil in the spark plug hole. From that, I think it might be a valve cover seal.

I turned the key to the on position and put my ear to the back seat and it's silent. No fuel pump whining.

So what does everyone here think the problem might be? I should be able to here the pump right?

Also, how do I get to the fuel pump, and where is the fuel filter located? Thanks a lot for any help.

You need to drop the fuel tank to get to the fuel pump.

The fuel filter is located on the drivers side frame rail just below the firewall.

Yeah, it sounds like it might be the seal. Also, I'm sure you checked this, but it sounds like it may have also just ran out of gas.

also there are fuses for the fuel pump as with all cars,,and a fuel pump relay, dont jump to removing the fuel pump right off the bat... check the simple items first,,make sure ure getting power at the relays and fuses,,,then check the power at the fuel pump,,if all is good then the fuel pump is bad,,just my .02 cents< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" ="text/"></>< ="text/">_uacct = "UA-939292-47";
