2002 SC2 Automatic: Occasional Hard Shift 2-3
We've owned the SC2 since new. My wife loves it so I do my best to keep it going. 230K on the odometer and the thing continues to deliver 30+ mpg so there's that. Occasionally it shifts hard on the 2 to 3 shift. It hesitates before going into reverse. It has received regular maintenance including transmission fluid and filter changes throughout its lifetime. I've read about the input nut thing and believe that is not the problem as if the nut were loose, the issue would be a constant. I'm thinking it is the valve body or the electrical plug to the valve body. Have not checked that yet. I did order a "rebuilt" valve body from Ebay but the vendor called me and said he mistakenly thought he had availability when he did not. During our conversation, he said when they rebuild a valve body, they clean everything and then he takes it to a friend who scans it to ensure all is good. My question is, has anyone out there done this their selves? I've watched the Youtube videos on how to ohm out the shifting solenoids and would be comfortable doing that but what else could be done with the valve body while it is on the bench? Where does a guy get a reliable replacement valve body? The car is otherwise very viable, no rust whatsoever. Just a couple punctures in the left front fender where some cretin hit it in a parking lot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
