2002 SC Coupe Cat Back

Hello. I would like to use the OBX part # 14-2501-1 Cat Back on my 2002 SC2 Coupe. OBX says this unit is not compatible with my vehicle, fits the SL, SL1 SL2. Is this system a close enough fit to make it work? The Thermal Research B801-C802 is a bit expensive. Thanks for any help with this.

I would say that it would work fine. My exhaust book says that 98-02 sc,sl and sw models all take the same exhaust.

2002 SC Coupe Cat Back

Great. Thanks for the information. I installed a OBX header and MagnaFlow cat last week. Engine moves up to redline much faster now.

Sorry but I must ask why you asked for advice after you had already installed it?

My question was for the exhaust system from the second cat to the tail pipe.

It’s all good.

Thank you for the polite response to my ignoramus question.
I guess the term "Cat-Back" should have given it away, no?
When I ask real winner questions like this, I don't delete them, as they remind me to focus on what I'm reading and what happens when I don't

When I hear the letters OBX and the S cars mentioned in the same sentence, my mind instantly defaults to OBX headers...and stays there...

My bad

Indeed, it's all good.
Glad it worked our for you

Thanks. Back to the original question. How close of a fit might I have with the OBX part # 14-2501-1 "Cat-Back" I believe my car is only a few inches longer (5") than the SL, SL1 SL2 ?

Remember way back in post #2, I answered your question. 98-02 sc,sl and sw ALL take the SAME exhaust.

damn, I just went to the OBX website.
Someone needs to tell them
1)S cars were not made in 2003
2)SLx were never made with two doors

Now I see the confusion. Some of their offerings are labeled directly as compatible w SCx or SL2/DOHC/SC2, but your part is labeled as

97-03 Saturn SL1 1.9L 2/4DR SOHC/DOHC ALL

The SL series was redesigned for 96; the coupe for 97., 96 was a strange year for coupes; had 1st gen body but OBDII. So exhaust stuff different for 96 and older coupes.
So 97 and 98 were 2nd gen coupes
99-2002 3rd gen coupes. 98 was the first year for the smog pump
Somewhere in there, they changed from a 5 bolt to 9 bolt exhaust manifold if memory serves me correctly

Since the SLs and the SCs are built on the same frame by this point in time, I would say 97-02 per mfgr which includes 98-02 per 02 LW300.

The title on their site is self-contradictory. Listed as SL1, (SOHC), then adds DOHC, then states 2 and 4 doors. The only S cars to have 2 doors were the coupes (SC1, SC2)

It should read Cat-back for 97-02 Saturn SOHC/DOHC ALL (SL, SL1, SL2, SC1, SC2, SW1, SW2)

You should be ok
