Checking in 5 years later to say hi, Happy Memorial Day, and that it's all still working
The Saturn hasn't been driven a lot over the past 5 years, but now that I'm pretty much retired I've started using it more locally, and just put a new battery in. BTW, if you want remove the SC2 battery tray to clean it, in addition to the obvious bolts, has two 13mm bolts you access from the wheel well. Took me a while to figure that out! She's running very well, and I hope everyone here is well too
I do believe that is the longest followup interval this forum has ever seen.
Thank you for the update!
Not too many 94s running around.
Even back when this car was new, there was only one other one of this color and year driving around town, and it was a four-door. Up to a few years ago I used to still see it driving around occasionally, but I haven't seen any of this era in quite a while. It's almost always been kept in the garage, so that has really preserved it, even living very close to the ocean. I've checked the forum occasionally over the past 5 years, and am glad to see it's still going!
Your 95 looks beautiful! I don't think I've ever seen one in that color. The original paint on mine is in good shape, though when you look in person it's got some surface scratches, and a few minor areas where looks like a volleyball scraped across the hood etc. But overall it looks great. By the way this has plastic valve covers, if you're talking about the engine.
This is an automatic, and the air conditioning does work. It was blowing warm, but I used one of those easy-recharge kits, and it's still working. I also had a first generation Toyota Celica in teal. It needed work, and a new paint job, and I sold it recently to a gentleman in Oregon who is a massive collector and restorer of Celicas. In fact he sent an auto transport to pick it up last week. This was my parents ride before they bought the Saturn. I decided I was not going to invest the time and money required to restore the Celica, and would keep the Saturn. The buyer has a gigantic horde of Celica parts, and has restored many of them. This one is a four-speed manual, and I hated to see it go, but love that it's going to be restored to its original glory.
Good to see you're alive and well tap. Do you still have your Ram pickup? If so, how many miles are on it now. And don't doubt for one minute that derf isn't serious about purchasing your Saturn. Just like me, he's a man of his word.

Thanks, and it's good to see you guys alive and well too! Still have the Ram, it's at 55,000 miles now. Have had absolutely no problems with the engine or anything. All I do is change the oil about every 6,000 miles with Mobile 1. I plan to keep it as well, even though I'm not working much these days.
Good to know that the Ram is alive and well and has low miles on it. Keep up the good work. If it ever seems like it's starting to use oil, I can HIGHLY recommend the Valvoline Restore and Protect. It's worked wonders in my sons 2016 Kia Soul with the GDI engine. Whoever came up with that design should be publicly caned. I don't like any type of fuel injected engine where the valves don't get a wash from the gasoline spray. Lots of carbon build up on them.
Absolutely no problems with that Pentastar engine, or the 8-speed transmission. One reason it has fairly low miles is because when the pandemic hit, I stopped working for about a year and a half, and really haven't worked full time since. I was getting to the age where I was winding down my trades work anyway.
I just remembered... the only problem I did have with it - and this was common with Ram trucks of that era - was that the gas filler neck was too steep. It was very difficult to put fuel in the truck, and often the gas nozzle would get stuck. After fighting with the dealer, I finally got them to replace it with an updated part. It took them forever to admit they had a problem, because I don't think they wanted to do a recall. The part is not very expensive, and to replace it isn't too difficult, but to me it was the principle. I finally got one of the service guys to admit that they had to send a mechanic out to retrieve gas nozzles from a couple trucks, and that his own truck had the same problem. I think the updated part was put on all trucks after 2020.
Well, people of Saturn, another dash issue has arisen. The speedo. When I backed out of the garage I noticed the speedo needle was twitching a bit, then settled down. Drove to the grocery store, and everything seemed fine. Then when leaving, while going 5 MPH, it jumped to 70 MPH and twitched. Down the road it settled down to around 25 MPH, and that's where it stays now, no matter what speed I'm going. When the engine is off, the needle goes to 0, and the odometer and other gauges still work fine. Just hoping for some direction where to look first. TIA.
As an aside, when walking out of the store I saw a woman loading groceries into a 1995 teal 4 door Saturn, that I've seen around town forever. Mine and hers are the only ones I've seen around here, in teal. Talked to her and she originally had a 1992, that was nothing but problems. Leaking tranny, power windows failed, dash had to be sent to Tennessee to be repaired, and more. She saw the teal 1995 on a lot with manual windows and no extras, with cloth seats, and bought it. It's been good. She inferred that 1992 had a lot of issues, being a new product.
