Just checking back in to report it's all still working great. Odometer is reading accurately, and the tach and all other gauges are working fine.

That's great news, Tap. I'm glad to hear that it's still working the way it's supposed to. And thanks for checking in and letting us know. I LOT of folks come here for help, get it and we never hear from them again.

Good news!

Thanks for stopping by. Again.

No problem, and I'll check back in now and then. All seems good now with the old Saturn coupe, but I know things will break... Thanks again for the help guys.

Just checking back in 5 months later... Happy New Year! :D

The tach and odometer are still working fine, as is the pop-up headlight I repaired around the same time. The old 1994 SC2 is still running great (knock wood) and gets driven several times per week around town. I guess the 1994s are now officially considered "classic" by the AACA, being over 25 years old, but she drives like new and looks great too!

I'd love to have another Saturn SC but 2 things prevent me from doing so. First is the lack of money and second is the wife. Her arthritis is getting worse, so there's no way she would be able to get in and out of one comfortably. Looks like the next vehicle I'll be looking at (in about 3 years) will be a used mini van or SUV. Most likely a Grand Caravan or Town&Country. I'm a Mopar guy at heart.

It IS a bit of a pain to enter and exit the SC2, so I completely understand. I mentioned in another thread I removed the center console armrest box and that made the interior much less cramped.

I never was a Mopar guy, but a couple years ago bought a new Ram pickup, mainly for work (semi-retired sub-contractor), but use it for personal as well, and am very happy with it. I got the Pentastar V6 engine with 8-speed, and it gets great mileage, but PLENTY of power when you need it. It's a basic regular cab Tradesman, but with some upgrades on the interior (power windows/mirrors, carpet, premium door trim, bluetooth, Sirius). After driving it during the day for work, it's nice to use the little SC2 around town!

I'm amazed that you actually found a standard cab Ram anywhere. I thought they had to be special ordered! LOL Anyway, you can't beat the Pentastar V-6 for reliability. Those are some amazing engines. IF you ever have trouble with it, join me over at allpar.com. Great forum for everything Mopar.

Regular cabs can be hard to find, but my local dealer had 3 in stock. This one, another V6 long bed with the chrome package and sliding window (I didn't want either) and a Hemi. I'm in the Ram Forum (same ID) and all I see are complaints about "Hemi tick" and other noises, the MDS making VERY strange noises, and how hard it is to change the oil filter on them. Also 16 spark plugs???

The Pentastar is easy to do oil changes on, with the oil filter on top, and is very quiet. I'm very impressed with it and glad I didn't succumb to the "Hemi hype". I let the dealer do the first oil change, but have done the rest since and switched to Mobil 1 full synthetic. Get 19-20 mpg combined, and 24+ freeway only. I'll check out that forum, thanks.

The only reason I would have ever wanted a hemi is for the speed. But I can't drive that fast anywhere that I'm aware of and not get a ticket. Pentastar has plenty of get up and go and will STILL get you a ticket! Since I'm a DIY guy too, I don't see the appeal of changing 16 spark plugs at one time either.
