'00-'02 SL sedan center console window switch needed
Hey everyone, I can't locate for the life of me a replacement window switch for my '01 SL sedan. I've called every salvage yard in my area and can't catch one on ebay. A Saturn dealership about 55 miles away has one but its $150! Anyone have a parts car laying around or a spare one on the shelf? The switches were the same from '00 - '02 but not earlier. The side mirror control is next to the window switches, not below it like on earlier models. Anyone help me?
PS Are these notorious for failing and/or being impossible to find? -Tim squirrelmobile74@hotmail.com |
Post up a picture, I have a few sitting in the garage. I don't remember one from the other.

If anybody would likely have your missing part, it'd be sw2cam ...

I guess the internet only works one time in WI .......

that's not true -- i lived there for 7 years and it worked more than once

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies. I actually tracked one down in a junk yard about 70 miles away and picked it up for $25. What a pain in the butt. No wonder Penske doesn't want anything to do with Saturn anymore haha.

Glad you were able to locate your needed part. Everyone here will need to learn how to do this before long ....

RjION - My comment about saturn and Penske was merely a joke refering to Roger Penske deciding not to purchase the saturn brand from GM (government motors) after previously doing so. I was elluding that maybe Penske thought saturns were so goofy that even he couldn't make them work.
Reference: http://www.autoweek.com/article/2009...NEWS/910059996 Secondly, A Sunfire CTS isn't quite right. Fiero is a model name while SS is a performance designation. Like GXP, Z28, Z06, GTP, SSEI or in saturn lingo; Redline. But in the case of my Fiero SS I just shuffled the brands in a way that best represents the car. For example, if you put a Grand Prix GTP 3.8 SC V6 into your Ion; your Ion could be an Ion GTP. Get it? My Fiero is a 'SS' model because of the 420hp small block chevy transplant. I guess the C5 Z06 brakes don't hurt either... nice work -- and not likely to catch on fire presumably......
I knew there was at least one running somewhere |
Wow. That is a beautiful piece of machinerey. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, I'll be honest; I was never a Fiero guy from the start. I made fun of them when I was younger too. I had the V8 sitting around after it was swapped out for a hotter motor in my dad's '64 Corvette so I had to find something to put it in. Muscle car prices were exploding so I had to pick something more affordable so the Fiero was the ticket. There is actually a much bigger Fiero following then you might think. http://fiero.nl is Pennock's Fiero Forum and its one of the most popular, fast moving forums I've ever seen. There are some amazing cars with some amazing things done to them. 3.4, 3.8 V6's, 3.8 SC & Turbo, SBC, 4.5 & 4.9 Caddy V8's. The big thing now is LS V8's even a LS7 into a choptop wide body. I know a guy in N. Illinois that has a widebody 383 turbo car that is pushing 720+ hp. Crazy stuff.

That is almost unbeilevable. Those cars are so small with all that power must make them insane to drive. I saw a fiero for sale the other day for $500. I think i will look into it further for a possible sleeper car. I do have a crate 350 sitting in my old truck witch has a blown tranny. Again nice work, that truly is a piece of art.

Actually the car is pretty mild mannered. The new cam is a little lumpy for the street but not bad. She runs under 190 all day long even in summer and idles at about 750. After I did the V8 swap the car weighed 2760lbs. It gained some weight with the new brakes and big wheels but its well worth it. You also have to remember there is plenty of weight over the rear tires to aid with traction. I'm not saying you can't spin the tires when you want to but it helps with launches, etc. haha
