2007 Saturn Ion

I have a 2007 Saturn Ion. The engine seized on me recently, but all the other parts of the car are completely functioning. Looking to sell the car parts.

Welcome Megan, please list your location and what transmission and how much you want. Thanks

Indeed, welcome.

Please list complete model info (ion 1/2/3/RL), Tranny (M/T, A/T), Mileage, Factory paint code (should be factory paint code on sticker in driver's door jamb). location, and price.
Please include any body damage.

Also PLEASE include contact info OUTSIDE THE FORUM (email address) so that you may be contacted after your username is disabled for inactivity. Use the word "at" and not @ to keep the spambots at bay

Are you looking to part it out or sell it whole? I recommend the latter, as your time is best spent making one person happy for less cash than stripping the car part by part.
You will make another late model Ion owner a happy person if you pass this on as a complete parts vehicle. It's rare to find well-kept Saturns these days

Good morning,

I am located in Baltimore, MD and I have an automatic transmission. I am willing to take whatever you offer.

Best regards,
Megan

You could probably sell it to a scrapper for a couple of hundred bucks, so you should at least ask that much. Don't let someone tell you it's only worth $50-100. That's baloney.

SHAME on you, Rube.

The body is nice and those parts are scarce.

IF you were closer I’d buy it for scrap value, just to save the front clip for my Ion and the transmission for my wifes Ion...

if it were manual I’d find a junkyard engine and make it the new home for the supercharger from my RL...

I know it's a nice car and I'd love to have it, derf. I'm just being honest with her and giving her an option. Why don't you buy it and put an engine in it? She's a LOT closer to you than me!

derf 11-18-2018 06:08 PM

As soon as you buy me that full lift for my garage, an engine hoist, and an engine stand like you promised, I'll get right on it.

Put an ad on Craigslist with the title ", 2007 Saturn Ion (trim level) donor car/needs engine" Text: Great body, working transmission, seized engine. $500. Let them talk you down to $300 and only sell the whole car.

Have you tried rotating the crank by hand with a breaker bar and socket on the crank bolt? Why do you think it's seized? ( Not challenging you, just seeking information)

19bonestock88 11-19-2018 02:20 PM

That brings up a great point, no crank/no start doesn’t mean seized... did it fail while driving with an oil pressure light lit up? Did the timing chain jump/break? I’d neither of these have happened, there is a chance it will still run...
