What would be your approach?

My work desk at home.

How would you start to clean this up let alone finish?

Note: I'm not even working right now.

Usually it's spotless (I call BS on myself)

Build a shelf for the Mustang and the Chevelle.

Makes perfect sense.

It's actually a 442 but you can't tell from half a car

There is one company that makes these cars, obscenely detailed under the hood, inside the cabin, even the exhaust molded into the bottom. Doors and hood open. And of course they roll.

About $10 a piece

You've seen MY desk, derf. I don't see any issues with yours at all. Leave it alone. LOL

Floating wall shelf with built-in LEDs for the cars and anything else you want to display. And a dual vertical monitor mount for those monitors. Should free up space for your laptop and you will be able to put desk tray(s) where your laptop used to be (for mail, bills, and other paperwork).
