New Addition to the Driveway

New Addition to the Driveway
Never got around to posting this....
After 21 straight years of having my 1997 SC2 as a daily driver --- off the Saturn lot to my current driveway, I've finally given in to the wife and my desire for something a little peppier and bought a Certified Pre-Owned, dealer maintained. so fresh off lease that I test drove it before they cleaned out the previous owner's mud from the floor mats......
2016 Audi A3 Premium 2.0T (turbo) Quatro with 24.5K
This thing pulls, handles, and brakes like nobody's business.
The wife and I have needed a sedan for road trips, going out with friends and family, etc for quite some time. I've been fending off my wife for literally a decade as she tried in vain to get me to replace the 97 with "something all-wheel drive".
My back and especially my neck and her back are becoming problematic, and I also thought at 51 I deserved a little something nice to drive off into the sunset since I keep my cars apparently till they run into the ground, which I've yet to successfully do.
Basic specs:
220 HP @ 4500 rpm
258 ft lbs torque @1600 rpm
Dual clutch DSG transmission with manual shift
curb weight: 3.362 lbs
0-60: 5.8 sec.
Mipg: 24/33
A few upgrades here and there (parking sensors, rearview camera, heated front seats). Otherwise a pretty basic A3 Quattro.
It is BLACK -- very sunny when I took pictures
Here are some pix:
Don't you worry, the Black Car, as the 97 is known in these parts, is going nowhere anytime soon. I still use it for quick trips around town and will continue to do so.
-----------------------
I'm also planning on getting the white car (95) roadworthy again and back in my name, as it has been wasting away in OH for too long.
Damn it I am going to redo the timing somehow with the motor in the car. I only need to spin a cam 1 tooth.....needs cam cover gasket anyway. Battery, rebulb dash and AC controls, headliner......not a ton to do.
Just need to get up the confidence to tackle the timing stuff. Which for me means saying wtf......

Great looking ride, derf. You and Brenda should be very happy with that bad boy. And if I lived anywhere near, I'd be happy to help you with the 95. I hope you kick your nephew in the **** when you go get it.
