Bolt-in? No... Completely worth the thousand hours of fab work to make a rotary engine fit and run? Oh, yeah!

I'll tell ya what- buy me a peripheral port 26B and I will move mountains to get it swapped into my IRL... As a bonus, I'll even make it RWD...

Such an engine would be only for track days, for a number of reasons...

1. Extremely short life span associated with peripheral porting(but it's the only way to get identical ports on all four housings in a 26B)... Rebuilds every 15-20k would be mandatory...

2. With peripheral porting, the engine idles like crap, and at 2000 RPM... No power at all below 4500, and the engine is happiest in five figure revs...

3. Rotary engine oil consumption makes S series oil consumption look extremely minor...

4. Fuel consumption compares to that of a gas powered one ton truck(think of the Ford V10)

5. The cash it would take to properly swap a 26B into a Saturn, and get it to drive, would pay for a nice used C5 Z06... Would hate to finish said car and then have some idiot run it over at work... EDIT: take that back, the cost to transplant a properly built 26B into a Saturn would pay for a C7 Z06, brand friggin new! I looked up prices of the engine, and they range from $60k to $100k...

However, reduce the rotor count, and engines become somewhat affordable... 20B engines sell for $5k-ish, running...
