I've Been Preocuppied.
 

Valerie had her lung transplant last week end. It started with a phone call Saturday morning from the lung transplant group that stated and organ had been located and we needed to get to the hospital in an hour an a half. This of course was after pre-information that said in general you will have 6 hours to get to the hospital.
As if turned out, 6 hours was fine, but panic set in. Fast forwarding to Sunday morning she was prepped at about 7AM and in Surgery about 8 AM and done and ICU by 4PM. The next number of days was weaning her off of life support (not totally completed), learning to breath all over again now that the lungs were actually working. (Both lungs replaced, one was for all practical purpose nothing but dead weight and the other about 80% shot. ) and then learning to cope with the pain of the surgery as the anesthetics began to wear off and the healing process begins.
This was done by using a clam shell technique where by your body is opened up from almost arm pit to arm pit across the chest under the breasts and then the lungs are removed one at a time and replaced while verifying operation and the among other things stapling things back together. She looks like she has a zipper.
By all reports, the operation was a success in any manner that can be measured at the present time.
She was moved from ICU yesterday afternoon and she will be in the hospital for at least another week.
Things are hectic for a variety of reasons so will be busy for a while.

Great news about the transplant and it being deemed successful, Unc. As Andy said, prayers going out for Valerie and you. You take care of her, the forum will not forget where you are and what you're doing. Priorities, man!

Yay!!! Y'all are in thoughts. Hope recovery is quick and the pain goes away sooner than expected

Just wait 'till she's chasin you around to do stuff instead of tinkering with your dang carsssssss......
