Default GM and China??

First I am not sure if this type of thing is allowed or not. Sorry if it is not. Let me know and I will erase it.

This is a video sent to me about GM being more involved in China than here. I can't verify it. Maybe somebody else has heard of it before this.

You probably have to cut and paste it.

I read somewhere on the internet that GM is moving more and more stuff to China and investing a LOT of our taxpayer bail out money there. Someone needs to stop buying all the new GM stuff for a while. Like Obama and his buying all the new Chevys for government use. How convenient is that? Seems like all of the much praised Volt parts are made in China and shipped here for assembly. How the hell is that "made in America"?

It's not. But then again the term global economy applies to just that. Where does one draw the line? I guess in part that has to do with individual choices when we vote for people to represent us. GM is and has been a global company. I don't know when the Opal first joined the GM umbrella but it is a GM global corporate outfit and became big time in say Australia for example making cars that worked in that country popular. Chrysler used to have a division there but stopped funding it and GM filled the Gap with their version of things. Through OPAL.
It personally frosts me to find the use of Corporate Platforms to identify Saturns as another example, a Corporate platform of a package designed by Opal and Manufactured by Daewoo in Korea badged and sold as a variety of GM cars by doing little more than changing the badge that identifies the name using parts out of parts bins from all over the world to replace a vehicle that was designed and built in America and in Tennessee because what ever corporate decision was made some where that it was more profitable to do things that way. Of course there are side benefits and disadvantages, in this area certain Saturn and related GM models play hell getting parts for them because they did not sell well and now exist in a parts vacuum because the parts bins are in some questionable country some where controlled by other questionable entities.
When GM put Hummer up for sale it to a government action to keep it from being sold to a business in China. That is just what we need. Things to support our army made some where out of our control. A situation that you are describing that is taking place as we write.
On the other hand, Chinese manufacturing does make quality replacement parts. I've used them, the reputation in cast iron handling is faultless. But there is no control over patent infringement so go figure. I've used two radiators so far. Perfect fit.I am having a problem with an A/C condenser but it is for a 32 year old car and out of production. You would figure that, or at least I would. All purchased from major US auto parts big name stores.

GM has been associated with Opal for a long time. I know back in the early 70's that my oldest sister had an Opal GT that she got from a Buick dealership in Nashville.

Actually that segment goes a bit further back and also includes a segment where German economy was subject to problems causing an increase in prices so as at that time Opal was a functioning captive import sold through Buick dealers, GM replaced the Opal with Isusu also a gm subsidiary and advertised that as an an Opal by GM some how. Don't remember the spice exactly but Opal as a GM subsidiary that goes as far back as the 1920's I am sure.

GM bought Opel,Vauxhall, and Holden in the 1920's along with other brands over the years. So GM doing business off shore is nothing new. Myself ...... I hope GM keeps doing as well in CHINA as they are.

Over 2 million Buicks have sold in China.
