Gifted My 95 SC2 to my Nephew today 235,632 K

Only one Satty left in the driveway tonight. And each night thereafter.

Wife bought it new in 95 out in Wisconsin
Served us well for 20 years.
Still has original fuel pump and starter and alloy wheels that no one ever taught me how to maintain.....

Traction Control might have avoided 1/2 the shallow ditches we shared. I avoided some sizable obstacles once on the grass...on the stock Firehawk FTAs in the dead of winter.

Only one round of head repair + reringing
235,632K when it was signed over

The license plate starts with NUB -- so I guess it's the Nubster going forward.

I've arranged visitation and detailing rights, so I may be mentally ok, eventually....

The car will live on.

I still have the plastic emergency key they were supplying back in the day ;)

You're a good uncle, derf. You could have been a good FRIEND, but nooooooooo, you chose your nephew instead! :D

;) very nice Uncle Derf.

derf Nov 4, 2015 12:07 AM

his sister, my niece, is only 1 year younger than me and refused for the longest time to call me uncle.

I made her son and I make my nephew's sons call me Gruncle....

couldn't test the backpressure with my new gauge because I knew it would throw a code; it was due for inspection in PA in Oct, so I did not want to code it and then possibly get left out in drive cycle purgatory.

We'll do the backpressure thing in the spring when it warms up, or later this fall if it warms up and he's not working.

Pending backpressure results, we'll likely pull the timing chain cover in the spring and see what's what. It's kind of to the point that my soul will never be free of this earth when I die if I don't get that car running the way it's supposed to.

Oh, and verified that the alignment is spot on and the speedometer operates smoothly up to the triple digits on the ride to Wheeling to make the exchange. (Straight shot, no other cars).

Now I just have to get him to turbo it this summer and then buy it from him

well, the 97 has some minor things to address before inspection this month, and now I will get to work on addressing those side grooves. It's a shame because, except for the spoiler, there is nothing wrong with any of the clear coat or paint on that car....

I saw an s car turbo kit for sale for 1k shipped. Thought of you. Time to boost your only satty left!
Or join the redline club ;)

I thought I read somewhere that it is a big pain to turbo a 2nd gen S car --- but I'm sure it can be done.

Issue is---now I have no second car to drive if I wanted to turbo the 97.....oh the irony....well, not really. I knew the implication but I did what I felt was right in the situation. My nephew is in his late 30's so he's not a new driver by any means. He actually swapped rides w my wife for a few months; he got the 95, she got a mid 90's raised Toyota truck. Not crazy raised -- just some attitude. Man did people get out of the way on the highway....fun to drive once I got used to pulling forward before I turned, thus ending a long series of corner clips

At lest you can keep your beloved within eyesight......

and cringe with the first Monster sticker he puts in the back window.

I don't know anything about turboing those cars, besides low boost unless built.

Monster truck, aye?
