Default Bad day for the Navigator

Everyone is okay. Daughter was driving my wife and son back from a Doctor’s appointment and someone decided to pull out into their lane without looking. Traffic moves along here at 60+ mph. Two lanes each way with a safety turn lane in between. You are supposed to pull into the safety lane and merge with traffic when it is clear. The other driver turned into the fast lane as my daughter drove by. She could not get away from the other truck. On the brakes hard and could not change lanes due to cars to the right of her. She held steady and kept it in the safety lane since opposing traffic was coming at 60+ also. Lucky there was no weight on the left front as it just slid down the road on the lower control arm. The is a 3” wide aluminum stripe next to the tire skid mark. The State Police were impressed with her driving skills. State Police said the Ford Maverick obviously pulled into her lane and caused the accident.

Kudos to your daughter for handling it so well, Andy. You taught her well. Happy to hear nobody got hurt. Are you going to repair the Navigator or scrap it?

I will repair the Navigator. The other driver did not have insurance on a 2022 Ford Maverick. Full coverage on our Navigator, we bought it after a one year lease from Ford Motor Credit with 30k on it. It was still in great condition with no plans to replace it at 245k miles. I found another 06 Navigator with a perfect body that has a weak transmission 150 miles away for $800. I will go get it Wednesday. So even if the frame is bent on our car it will live again. I will just buy it back from the insurance after they total it.

Your insurance should cover when the other has no insurance unless you opted out of the under/no insurance.

Glad everyone is okay!
Also glad progressive is taking care of you. That's who I use as well, and I've seen mixed things online about em.
My KL Cherokee has full coverage, I increased just about everything I could on it to where it made sense, including uninsured.
Texas has one of the highest uninsured motorist numbers in the country. Want to make sure my wife is taken care of no matter what happens.

Your daughter's driving skillz If that were me

Safety lane wouldn't work in Jersey; the name in and of itself would have no meaning here *sigh* If I lived on the west coast; I would have requested dibs on that 5.4 DOHC for my Grand Marquis

I lived in Jersey for 17 years.
You think that's bad?

Go drive around Boston at rush hour. The shoulder/breakdown lane is used as an additional lane in each direction. Legally. I don't know what happens when a 60 MPH vehicle comes up on a stopped vehicle with a flat tire. And I don't want to know.
