2014 Ford Escape --Replacement Tires - Opinions?

Our '14 Escape needs needs new tires.

P235 55 R17 99H ContiProCaontact replacement

OEM Continental ContiProCaontacts are almost to the wear indicators at 30K -- may last to 35k.... on a 60K tire....rotated every 6k.

Read the OEM new tire warranty; very well written for the company, useless for you. No treadlife guarantee on OEM tires delivered w vehicle. Only prorated "unusability" policy related to % of wear already used.

These tires are crap in the snow and slush, and ok in rain.
Don't want to have to have a set of snows.

Looking for Grand Touring All Seasons that are truly all season. I know all season tires by definition are a compromise, bu it's not 1974 anymore and I don't think I should need to own a set of snows based on where I live (outside Pburgh) on an Intelligent AWD vehicle.

Maybe it just doesn't weigh enough....have we outdone ourselves with technology?

What about a Cooper CS5? You didn't specify what aspect ratio the tires are, but I guess a 235/65 tire? Honestly, a touring tire is pretty common... Should mostly come down to what you want to pay... With the weight of the vehicle and most suspensions set up for handling and not necessarily tire life, 30k isn't too bad...remember, driving style is as important to tire life as anything else...

I put some Goodyear Assurance tires on my 200, derf. They're okay in the rain, but I don't have a clue how they'd do in the ice and snow.

I corrected my description to include the Aspect ratio (235/55).

I remember the days of driving my S cars on 40K mi Fiehawk FTAs (stock tire). It was an awesome tire for those cars when dry, never hydroplaned in the rain. Snow performance was pretty good for a 2500 lb FWD plasticmobile. And that was on the performance side of all season tires. Between the suspension and the tires, that car would hop sideways rather than squeal the tires if you pushed it too hard.

40K mi treadlife warranty. Never got less than 45K out of a set. A lot of highway driving, though.

But 30-35K on a 60K treadwear warranty? Come on. If they're 40 K tires, just tell the customer instead of creating false expectations and pissing of your customers.

Wait--maybe GM has a controlling interest in Continental Tire.....??

Does anyone sell Toyo tires in your neighborhood? I have set #2 of Toyo Ht on my Navigator. The oem Michelin Cross terrain and the replacement set only went 30,000 each set. The Toyos I just replaced went 55,000 miles, now don't get me wrong they were ready. But with selectable all wheel drive with roll stability control and traction control these tires work just fine. I have never had the chains out of the bag. We have taken this rig to Kansas in February twice. 80 mph across Wyoming in the blowing snow with no problems. Wyoming is the only place that I have been with railroad gates across the freeway that they close in the winter when the roads get too bad.
