No I'm not doing the swap in the parking lot.
My buddies land is finally done have the trees taken down. He is going to put up a fence, and in going to halfazz lay some concrete to work on my car and the saab.
2 portable garages from harbor freight in a converted dog kennel will suffice until I get a house with a shop in a few months. Land is 30 min outside city limits. I can make as much of a racket as I want.

I'm also planning on grabbing one of these $3-500 crap shoot campers ive been seeing lately. All I need is a way to wash up before I go home. And the lady needs somewhere to go potty. But also a secondary way to keep things locked up. (That's the northern in me not trusting my buddy when he says he has lived there 10 years prior and nothing has ever been touched)

Those cute little solar panels at harbor freight too, ill probably grab 2 or 3 of those for lighting. Think imma use the front end of the vue I have for it.

Got the motor and trans out of the saab today.
I don't want the rubbish f35 so that is getting sold Friday to someone local.
Still need to inspect the clutch and flywheel but chances are I'm putting a new one in before I bolt my f23 to the motor. Rather not have to take it apart again.

The saab has a new timing kit on it. But they used the old style tensioner. So Ive got a new one ordered along with the top bolt fix. I grabbed some arp upgraded bolts from ottp on a new year sale for the guides.
Since ill have it apart ive got a brand new water pump to go on and a balance shaft delete.
Got plenty of extra shafts to cut for sprocket use.

Working on getting a pin out for a redline Pcm so I can start making the engine harness. Gonna keep it simple like the dune buggy/sand rail guys do.
Fuel
Ignition
Throttle
Fan
in theory I shouldn't see an engine light unless something serious fails

Yep. Using bones 04 Pcm and harness. Gonna be pulling probably 75% of the harness out.

Got a wiring diagram for an 04.

Motor and trans is out of the saab. Time to do the balance shaft delete and update the timing components. Still need a head.

ports are worse than a l61 on the saab. And cams won't work with the lsj. Not that it matters as ill delete the sensors in hpt, but I rather have it as lsj as possible. May order a clutch and flywheel in the next 2 weeks.

Ex wife finally agreed to going to court for the divorce. Financial set back for sure.

Terrible time pulling it out in the mud. Rolled everything out the front though.

Ordered the top bolt fix for the timing set. Once that comes in ill have all necessary parts for timing.
Depending on if a few sales go through this week ill order a BSD tool to utilize stock bearings as the oil galley block off.

In other news. The guy I sold my black housing tail lights to years back is parting out his car. I'm doing some trading to get them back and his black housing head lights for a retro fit.
He updated to a 2.4 hhr and retiring his Ion to a dirt track car.

I know it sounds silly to be excited over tail lights. But they were the first "mod" I ever did to my car. Last I looked they were discontinued. Not sure if they still are. But its just so cool I'm getting MY exact pair of lights back.

Cobalt clutch plate came in today. This one is actually for my cobalt ss. But I'm gonna get measurements and see if I could have a batch made. $47 from our brothers up north is stupid.

I need the same one for the ion. I'm converting to the cobalt clutch master and pedal.

Those tabs the clutch master inserts to is a common failure point on lsj cobalts. They got revised foe the lnf

Capital T should be the good one to build. What do you gain by cutting off the balance shafts? I realize they run at twice crank speed. Is there other way to run the water pump?

Bothe the low output and high output use the same exact motor. Difference is turbo and injectors.
.
You could switch to an electric water pump.

Or someone makes a kit to run it in the crank.

Then the way I'm doing it

And removing 15ish pounds of rotating mass will allow me to rev the car out past 9k plus free up 10-15hp
