Everyone has recalls. US News only makes a big deal out of it when it's GM.

Who will top the list for 2012?

My guess would be whoever has the most new models. They never seem to test them enough and after a model is out a month or two the problems start. When Ford came out with the 6.0 diesel it started within a few weeks. And Ford had no idea what was wrong. They had a bunch of problems.

If the Gov makes Jeep do a recall on the firewagons it will be the largest recall in American history eclipsing Fords burning recall.

On one hand I try to understand and make sense of the logic behind a recall and I am sure manufacturers do too. 'Specially where accounting gets directly involved in the design process that leads to piddle poor designs rather than something that works well per say.
And then you make a trip through the pickApart yard looking at and obtaining parts of some thing that was once a shinning steed representing a major purchase by the last owner, if they are still alive looking at the mangled mess of metal wondering how anyone managed to live through the wreck and how it happened in the first place.
Yes it is true, speed does kill. But on the other hand I can remember running down the "flats" at maximum speed in a Dodge at about 85 mph, a speed that today is considered a cruising speed of the average 4 wheel drive truck. Something whacking a wall or a tree at that speed or another car is going to be tore up pretty bad and cause a gasoline tank to leak and increasing the fire hazard.
Go figure I guess.

My neighbor just got one from Toyota. But it probably about the same ongoing problem they were having.

sw2cam 06-21-2012 08:21 AM

But which on-going problem, Toyota has had so many the last four years.

In the last week, Ford and Hyundai have announced recalls. Sounded like Ford was a big one.

Another Toyota recall.
