Transmission Bracket Needed

I have a 03 Saturn Vue, 2.2L, 4cyl, with 171,809 miles on it. It has never given me any trouble until recently. My vehicle started trembling and shaking while driving. I took it to a mechanic shop thinking the worst. The shop kept it for a week. The shop manager informed me that the rear transmission bracket wore out with no known damage to the transmission. So, in an attempt to help get my vehicle up and running, I went to the local auto parts stores and they tell me that Saturn parts have been discontinued - GM part no. 21991333. I then asked my mechanic if the 03 and 04 brackets interchangeable? He told me that he honestly did not know and would have to research my question. I have scoured the internet and cannot find the answer to my question. I have not found a pic of either the 03 or 04 bracket. So, if anyone has any information on these brackets or a pic of them, please include it in your response. Vehicle information listed below.

- 03 Saturn Vue,
- 2.2L, 4cyl, AWD
- 171,809 miles
- the last 8 #'s of VIN are 3S916617
- CVT trans

How on Earth did you get 171,000 miles out of a CVT??

Yours is probably one of four still running in the entire world. That means the junkyards should be ripe with parts. No joke. Those vehicles with cvts in 03 and 04 died back then, since, and were thought extinct on the road until you posted

I would find it hard to believe if the 03 and 04 transmission brackets for The identical transmission were different. But I will look. In the meantime I suggest you find a buyer for that vehicle and make a couple hundred bucks off before implodes. Guessing the bracket broke because the transmission is vibrating too much and you know where that leads.

Off to search the web

Well, using your part number, I found the following information at the first site I looked.

NOTE PART SAYS 2.2 CVT WITHOUT AWD. SO EITHER WRONG PART NUMBER OR YOU DO NOT HAVE AWD.

Which is interesting because the CVT was only offered in 2003 and 2004.

Anyway, go figure out if you have all wheel drive in which case this is not the right part. Personally I don't know if you could get all wheel drive on a 2.2 but I'm going to look

Well golly. There is a 2.2 all wheel drive. Now to track down the part number

Happy happy joy joy

That's a mouthful. I would probably try up to the end of the part number.

21990428 seems to be the correct number 4 your vehicle 2.2l all wheel drive 2003 Vue.

Does the picture look identical to the part number you specified? Don't know. The part fitment is for different years between the two part numbers. I would go by the all-wheel-drive if you do indeed have it.

Problem with finding one is with people have incorrectly identified their inventory if they've broken down the vehicle and parts are on shelves. Just as much of a pain in the ass is searching a junkyard having to crawl underneath rusted-out vehicles with transmissions still in them or mounting brackets still in them in order to see if there's a rear driveline indicating all wheel drive.

Oh hell, why don't I search the internet first.....

These people say they can source it for you

GM 21990428 Bracket, genuine OEM part

I've always been suspicious when it says best price for these guys. I do not know how they operate but I would hope that is their stated low price of the units available. One way to find out.

Checked carpart.com and carid.com with no luck. Rockauto.com no luck. Internet white search on 219 90428. It's the only result. Besides contacting junk yards I think Andy has a place he regularly contacts.

none of the information given above is warranted for any particular purpose including fixing your vehicle. I bear no responsibility for your belief that I searched thoroughly and that my results are correct. You may have additional rights in your state. I don't give a ****e. Please retrace the above search steps and part number determinations to ensure you end up with the right part. Crap it's 4:30. I should get some sleep.

Enjoy but double check

Awd 2.2? Gives me an idea for my 500hp lsj swap.

Anyway. Ive got a couple. 40 shipped in the states. Another 25 I can throw in a mount.

Apparently, if it is not off a 2.2 AWD 2002 to 2005, it's not the correct part. Are you saying you can confirm the ones you have are the correct part numbers from AWD 2.2s?

DropDead 08-06-2020 01:31 AM

Can double check. Vue inventory is getting low as most vue owners are to cheap to buy parts for pennies on the dollar.
I'll have to compare to part numbers you posted as my inventory skills have been lacking lately maintaining 2 jobs, almost back to 3
