Sl2 fuel injectors

So my question is very simple. Do the fuel injectors used on the 2001-02 SL series Saturn's work on the 2000 SL series Saturn's? Only reason I ask is because I picked up a set from the boneyard and they are the slim style and not the fat little ones on my car. Any feedback is appreciated

From some confusing research on RockAuto, it APPEARS that the long slim style are spec'd only for 2001 and 2002 and the stubbies are some kind of "generic-ish" injectors that are spec'd for a 2001 down to 1996, or 2000 down to 96, or ....?????

Basically, I'd pick a long slim one if you need a replacement if it were me.

The stubbys may work but be sure of the specs for each model number across different online parts sites like Rockauto.com
I have never seen Rockauto list a part that i bought that didn't fit.
The application specs are set by the vendors--that is where the issue is.

Sl2 injectors

So basically what you are saying is that a 2001-2002 Saturn's injectors will work on my Saturn which is a 2000?

No, I'm saying the 2001-2002 slim injector listings are probably correct, and the partnum for the 2001-2002 slim injectors is different than the partnum for the slim 2000 injectors.

I don't think any slim injectors listed as compatible with 2001-2002 only are compatible w 2000 slim injectors.

With the stubbies, it's a confusing mess of part listings that contradict and overlap each other at the same time. If you have a partnum off the injectors you picked up, google it on a gm parts site and see what it says it is compatible with.

That is what I would do to sort it out. If GM says it's compatible w 2000, then it is. If not, it's not.

It looks like the production date change is 6/2000, the early cars had the short fat injectors and the late cars have the slim taller injectors. The fuel rail may be different for the two different types due to height differences. I have used different injectors in a Subaru EJ22. 90 and 91 take one style and 92-96 take a different type but they will work if you change the rail. Maybe your Saturn will work the same way, you may need more parts to make it work. Maybe not.

Damn nabbit
..I answered this question correctly about 5 years ago. Hell, no one's perfect.
As far as the s cars go I think there were 3 diff rail designs. Plus 1st Gen injectors were peak and hold, the later ones were not. High impedance vs low impedance and the two shall not mix.

Thanks Andy.
