i just bought a 1995 saturn sl2. i noticed it was running hot while i was still and it would cool down when driving down the road. i figured the fan wasnt turning on so replaced the fan sensor and the gauge sensor. it doesnt run hot any more while sitting in place but now when the fan comes on the service engine soon light comes on. i was wondering if any one could give me some things to look at before i have to take it to a mechanic. i was thinking it might be a bad thermostat. could i be right. thanks

You could just take it to the local autozone or checkers or any parts store and ask to borrow their code reader and plug it in and get the codes. Most will print off the codes for you once you bring the reader back inside for them.
