Newish to the forum

I signed up a week or so ago to see if I could get some answers. I have a 2007 Aura. I have had it for 4 years. I got it fully loaded and for the first bit I enjoyed the car. Then the issues started. I have replaced alot on this car. But it sits dead in my driveway. I have posted in the aura section should anyone care to read and comment. I would lie to have her going again. It's a nice car when it functioning correctly.

I have never even looked under the hood of an Aura, Chad. But welcome to the forum and I hope you can find some answers here.

I don't like looking under the hood of my aura (no room) I prefer to look under the hood of my suburban and vw

Yeah, at least on those, you have room to put your hand inside and check a few things. The difference between my PT Cruiser and Chrysler 200 is like that. Love the 200. Hate working on the PT!

I am the same, I don't like working in the engine bay of my PT either.

Man, my GT has developed a small leak in the rack and pinion. I'm too broke to get another one, so will just have to keep it topped off on a weekly basis. That rack looks like a real beeeeotch to replace!

I had to do a water pump on mine back in december. I you tubed a few videos to see what I was getting into. I've done them on several other cars. After watching what it entailed and talking to a few shops, I took it to a mechanic to do. Took them 3 days, had to drop the motor 3/4 of the way out the bottom to get it. I am glad I disnt mess with it. One tooth out of timing when you start it you blow the head or turbo.

So I have no up date on my saturn . The dealer has had the parts a week and hasn't even looked at my car

Rubehayseed 07-22-2016 07:22 AM

The squeaky wheel gets greased first, Chad. I'd call them and start raising hell. But, as derf can testify, I'm pretty much an a-hole.

nightwraith2002 07-22-2016 07:32 AM

I've been on them all week. Told them yesterday I want something done today, 2 weeks is enough time to get oarts, and get the car done.

They are avoiding like the plague because automotively the Auras suck to work on and I'll guarantee not 1 tech in that shop has ever touched one.

They may not even have access to Saturn Field Service Manuals for it or access to the programs they need to flash the ECM and BCM --- which would be why they don't wanna touch it, b/c they don't know what IT is.

Personally I prefer the passive aggressive "kill em w kindness" approach where you show up in person, totally calm on the outside, and tell the service manager the receptionist didn't call to tell you that your car was done. He will respond "it's not".

Then you speak only in questions:
1) You HAVE started it , yes?
2) Okay you needed a week to get the parts. You couldn't even BEGIN the replacement in a week?
3) You will be starting it first thing tomorrow morning, right?
4) You can't guarantee when you'll begin working on it? Why not? You have the parts. Is there something else you need before you start work on my vehicle?
5) Are you backlogged? if so, by how many weeks?

etc

You ask them obvious questions. They answer w the truth or a lie. In many of these situations, the answer is BS. NOTE the answers for future interactions. You are giving him every opportunity to hand you lie after lie, all which you will keep track of. He will lie in so many directions he'll lose track of what he said.

Then, as each of his answers is proven a lie, push him for another hard date.
It is a marathon of endurance. You are 1 customer. He is shuffling 59. Who has more stamina?

The key is not to display anger. Calm frustration and disappointment works best.

They will either give in and get it done to get you to go away, or they will get you the keys and tell you to take it somewhere else.

Either way it is progress

I am very calm to deal with and super keen to remember everything that is said to me. Patience has its rewards in the end when it comes to haggling the bill because I waited so long. I've learned to work the system and not show frustration until it's warranted
