Newbie from Virginia

Hi y'all,

My name is Sarah. My '92 5 speed SL2 and I have just joined. We've visited many times before, but I figure it's time we did the respectable thing and actually register!

So... We live in Virginia. My Saturn is a middle child and has three siblings -- a 1978 Datsun 280Z, a 1994 Miata, and a late model Dodge truck. The Saturn is our most frequently used work vehicle. We're constantly using it to tow 2500 lb trailer loads full of topsoil to our home (big project), and the little car never complains. The car still looks reasonably good -- good interior, new wheels, probably needs some new paint.

I bought the little car new in '91, as a part of the bold, new experiment of GM's. I wanted a small, economical, reliable car that was actually built in America with an American drivetrain. It seemed Saturn was the way to go. I've been a very happy member of the Saturn family ever since, and I was sad to see the name fold with the reorganization.

Anyway, y'all have been a great help to me before, and I'm sure you'll continue to be. Maybe I can even share some information back! :)

Peace,
Sarah

Welcome to the forum, Sarah. We do hope you stick around and contribute. If you want to know a great site to sign up on for your Dodge, just PM me and let me know. I'm a member of a great Mopar forum also.

Thanks, everyone!

I doubt I'll need a Dodge forum for some time. The truck is quite new, and it has a lifetime drivetrain warranty! I'm already participating in good forums for the Datsun and the Mazda. :)

Wow, I just got finished replacing the Saturn's radiator (cracked tank). I think someone, somewhere, said it was a 30 min job. Unfortunately the A/C condenser coil was screwed to it, so the radiator couldn't be removed without detaching that from the radiator in place. No working room! I think I could have designed that assembly a bit better!

Only a couple of months ago, I replaced the thermostat. I had to pull the A/C compressor just for access.

Fortunately most parts of the Saturn have been pretty kind to me -- reliable and easy to service. But that cooling system! Whew!
