Default New to Saturn

Hello. I am new to Saturn cars (and this forum obviously). I recently bought a 95 SL1 with 104k on the clock. I have a list of things to be done, and just replaced front brake pads and rotors. Thinking I should have changed calipers too... Anyway, I was skeptical the car would last long, but after browsing countless messages of Saturn's in the 200k+ range, I'm thinking a little elbow grease may go a long way. So you will see me here asking q's from time to time, so say hi!

Hi there!
Pads and rotors sound like a good thing to replace. If they were needed of course. Pads generally are pretty easy to diagnose. Rotors? A little harder maybe. My rule of thumb is if the car does not pull to one side or the other and you can not feel the brake pedal pulsate from a warped rotor, the rotors are functional and if mony is tight, they will work quite adequate.
Calipers? Do they work? Do they Leak?
I have a philosophy! If they ain't broke don't fix them.
Of course budget and desire can change that one just a bit. You ought to see the pile of not broke parts I have as a collection of things I took off just to change them to something else.

It's always bloody nice to have brakes.............again welcome to the Saturn Forum. This is a good place always full of good natured harassment and sarcasm. Like the old comic strip, Grin and Bear It.

hate when brake pedal depression does not directly lead to stoppage
