New to the group and Saturn vehicles
 

Thanks for allowing me to join. Girlfriend has an 02 sc1. Solid car but having some running issues. Hoping to find some posts, or pull from the knowledge of the group, to help get this car back on track. Normally deal with foxbodies, so have a lot to learn about these cars, and forums are usually the best place for info, so I hope you'll be patient with me as I begin this journey 🤣.

Welcome to the forum. The things you can learn about the S series cars here is quite a lot. BUT, you have to listen to the advice and not ignore it. The SC's are fun little cars, but if automatic, have the crappy TAAT-4 transmissions. The ECTS, is an often overlooked but common trouble spot too. Especially if replaced with an aftermarket one and not OEM from GM. Just a couple of words of advice. Have fun with it. I owned 2 of them once upon a time and don't anymore. Too hard for my wife and daughter to get in and out of. Wife just had 12th back surgery and daughter has had one.

Thanks for the welcome. Car had a motor swap done a couple years ago. Trying to make it a daily driver, so won't be doing anything really crazy to it. But I will certainly listen and apply. Now new to working on cars, just this one, and I've found over the years that forums like this are the best place for info and insight so won't be wasting it lol.

My grandson and I have a project, got a 1991 Saturn SC 1.9L DOHC, need some engine starting help. Thanks in advance.

Be sure to check the oil regularly. My SC 1 didn't use anywhere near what the SC2 used, even though it had twice as many miles on it. I used a quart about every 3-5,000 miles in the SC1. The SC2 used a quart about every 2,000 miles.

The 91 and 92 were the cutting teeth period for the s car.

Especially since it is new to you, watch that oil level like a hawk until you figure out how much it's going through per unit mile, thousand miles etc.

93 was the year that things stabilized, including a lot of the sensors, mounts, internals to the Head, blah blah blah.
