Hi! I've been lurking around the forum looking for similar problems to mine for a while and thought I should make an account. I'm here just for general advice as need comes up and to look at what other people are doing with their saturns :)
I recently got passed down my dad's 1998 sl2 with 215k miles (I've put almost 2k on already since I got it...) and so far it's my favorite car that I've driven and I'm excited to fix it up so it's even better.

Welcome. Monitor your oil level very carefully and change it at 3K miles, 5K if you use full synthetic.

I am so on top of the oil monitoring. Good to know it's not just a my car thing :D

Hell no. S car DOHC thing

Welcome to the forum. I have had both the SOHC and DOHC SC models and the SOHC didn't use anywhere near as much oil as the DOHC. I have no idea why as both had about the same amount of miles. My biggest problem was the crappy TAAT4 transmissions that were in them.
