Good afternoon to everyone,

I am new to the forum and have a 1995 Saturn SL1 with 157K miles. It runs great and gets me 30 mpg around town. I have one concern that I need your help with. At times (not all the time) the heat gauge will go all the way up to the 3/4 mark before the cooling fan kicks in. It is an intermittent problem. I have already swapped the relays to see if that was the problem but, no change. I have a feeling that the thermostat is starting to go bad. Is the cooling fan linked somehow to when the thermostat opens? Let me know of any solutions or advice you can give. I am planning to have the cooling system flushed, filled and replace the thermostat soon. Thanks in advance for your help.

Mike

First welcome to the forum.
Second always post questions on the proper page.
Third the cooling fan does not come on till the temp gauge gets to about the 3/4 mark.
Fourth the cooling fan is always on when the a/c is on.
Fifth sounds like everything is normal.
Sixth no need to double post.

Welcome to the Saturn Forum. I guess you have never been on a forum so you have no idea how stuff works.
