2002 Vue

Looking at a 2002 Vue with about 87,000 miles. It has the six cylinder with AWD. It is a two owner car with a clean carfax. I have looked at reliability reviews and see that the 2003 had transmission problems, but it looks like it was isolated to that year only. I was also interested if someone could tell me a little bit about recommended service intervals for the timing belt and if the engine is an interference engine and what else I should be looking at on that model. It would also be great if anyone has opinions on the 2002 Vue.

Thanks in advance,

jj

Have a Saturn-friendly dealer check the recall notices against your VIN number, to see if you are one of the group to receive a new transmission ...

Thanks for the advice, but I was just looking at a forum on transmission problems with this SUV and it looks like a nightmare. Is any GM dealership still Saturn friendly?

I don't know about "any" -- but I've got one in Mobile, AL who was joined with a Cadillac dealership. They still have all the tools, manuals, etc. necessary, along with several of the technicians and the shop manager. If you ever close to Mobile, they are the place to go ...

2003-2004 Saturn VUE with 4cly engine had the VTI (CTV) transmission. The FIAT VTI trans is JUNK, and that's all that can be said about that. All other transmissions used in the VUE were fine.

None of the VUE's with a 6cly used the VTI transmission.
Any and all questions should posted in the appropriate area. This is the New member intro forum
