ram air intake 99sl2
put a ram air intake on my 99sl2 dohc Automatic after finding a big hole in my stock intake... doing a few test my miliage was at 28.4mpg.. the balls out foot to the floor ive lost 2mpg so
i am onto the normal everyday driving i do a mix of hwy and street same rout day in and day out...i fell like a drone sometimes.... but i will let u all know how the outcome is
Of all the short-ram or cold air intakes I've put on .... I've never seen a gain or loss in mpg.
quick check today not going to be real acurate but at a qtr tank i did the math and came out to be 32 to the gallon so a gain of 4mpg but ill keep it posted when i get actual numbers....
filled it up for the work week... 266on th trip... 7.8 filled it up.. 34.1 to the gallon :)
The funny thing is ... my 1993 SW2 5speed did over 39mpg on a number of trips and I didn't evan have a cold or short-ram intake on that Saturn. It's not uncommon for a properly maintained twincam S-Car to get 35 plus miles to the gallon on the road.
yeah the 5 speeds are crazzy efficient my brother had a 95 i think sl1 with a 5 speed and single over head cam we had times where we had gone on trips and gotten 45 to th Gallon damn doch autos.....
he bought the car for 350 thinking it would last six monthes sold it 6 years later for double and had 275xxx miles on it
All of my S-CARS were DOHC and all of the 5 speeds got over 35mpg on the road. My two automatic DOHC S-CARS got up to 34 on the hiway.
I hope someday I can get that kind of mpg with my 1.9 DOHC automatic, still have lots of probleums.
