If you get the CherryBombBrand "glasspack" muffler it will be loud if you replace the stock muffler with it.

Having pretty much done most of my performance modifications on a budget, I have found that by in large they do little for actually adding to a measurable increase in performance but generally make me happy.
My single biggest disappointment across the board is headers. By in large they have proven to be a huge waste of money accompanied by reliability and maintenance problems.
My favoritest is High Flow catalytic converters and H or X cross over pipes on dual exhausts. The H pipe mellows out the blatting that can come from duals on a V type engine.
On small in line engines to me a high flow catalytic converter and a turbo muffler of some kind generally will make me happy as to the end result. Also makes them smog legal which where I live is a requirement for the most part.

surprises me that the exhaust was not a huge improvement cause I looked at mine and if it's larger than 1.5 inches that's about all so I have debated headers and a cat but would not even consider a loud exhaust on such a turd of a car

quad, just use a stock redline exhaust. That's all you need for it.

You may as well use autozone brand parts then if youre going to cherry bomb it.

I hadn't thought of using a redline exhaust on a base model, good call(but where will she find one?)

I actually recommend a turbo muffler of some sort(Thrush, cherry bomb, etc), and the longest glass pack that you can find, as a resonator... If you stay away from name brands finding the stuff(like Flowmaster or MagnaFlow), you can generally get an exhaust built on the good side of a $200 bill, and it will sound good and be civil at idle and cruise...
