What is this? Where does it fit?

After a year reviving my SC2 2002, I finally finished, only to look on the ground to see this object lying there mocking me. I had seen it before so I knew it went on the car but do not have a clue. Car runs without it but RPM in park around 3-4 thousand.

Someone will actually know the answer to this. It is a vacuum connection 90 degree adaptor of some kind. Based on your idle speed it is a manifold vacuum source. Probably to the evap system connection.

Haven't seen that part fall off mine. What makes you suspect that this is connected with your high idle speed?

Might it be the 2002 equivalent of the similar looking piece on the top of my throttle body near its intake. The lines on mine are of diff diameters, but it seems pretty close.

Plus leaving 2 holes open in the throttle body sucking air might affect your idle

The lines connected to it go down and under the throttle body out of sight towards the rear of the car and at 330AM I don't think my neighbors want to hear me putting the car on stands right now

I did not pull mine out of the throttle body as it is 19 yrs old and I like the way my car idles right now

Hope this helps.

Don't forget, my throttle body is horizontal and yours is vertical, so the top for me is likely the left for you (facing the car)

And thank you for asking this question, as a curious shine of my flashlight revealed my serpentine belt, which was a 15 yr old in my trunk brand new one I've had on the car for 6 months, has gone to hell in a handbasket w cracks everywhere. Things dry rot in the trunk too --- if you leave the car out in the heat.......
Replacing tomorrow

I did change out the tps on mine and it did have a similar oval shaped clip, but that looks more like a vacuum line connector. Poking around the throttle body, I don't remember seeing anything looking like that...but it's been many months since then.

3-4k rpm in park is way high. It should be around 800. Something is definitely wrong with either your throttle position or evap system. No codes? No lights?

Idling that high definitely indicates a HUGE vacuum leak. You need to figure out where the hell that goes ASAP. I don't have a clue, as I don't have a Saturn to compare it with.
