SW2 Wagon Shifting Hard

Hi guys> I am new here in the forum. I have a 1996 Saturn Station Wagon that I keep in great condition. Recently the transmition has started to shift roughly. If is driving me crazy. No slipping or else only rough shifting. A mechanic told me that I need to get another trans or rebuild the one I have. I know there is a beter remedy to solve this problem. That wagon is my baby and I am not getting rid of her. Can anybody tell me what the problem might be?

Thanks in advance.

Curille

Search transmission shifts hard, transmission slams into gear.

Have you tried a simple flush and filter and fluid change? That's the first thing I'd do if it were mine.

Yes guys; I did a flush and changed the oil + filter. I also added a treatment and it worked for about a week but it started again. Thank you for the reply and the suggestion.

I found this when I was looking for a repair kit for my intake manifold. It is supposed to correct the hard shift from park into gear. I haven't purchased this product yet. I did have an improvement when I used Sea Foam's transmission additive.

Hmmmm -- I've got a '93SW that bangs into reverse -- wonder if they have a similar kit for mine??

I bet they do.
