Service wrench

Well, I finally got this computer situation taken care of, but, the service light is now on, and I know that I have to take it to my local A.S.S.C. (im not typing that out again) to get reprogrammed.

But Im curious, are there codes for this light like the SES light, and if so how are they read? My ultra gauge only reads the MIL codes and nothing comes up when the service light is on.

I have a feeling its the reason I have no cruise control or A/C.

i should probably go get that reprogrammed soon.

I have an Actron guage. Is that different from what you have?

probably, the ultra gauge is more of a digital screen for the engine computer, not a dedicated diagnostic tool
Normally it tells me rpms, mpg, temps, manifold pressure, oil distance, ect, with the bonus that it can read and reset codes and some other nifty things. but not much more than that.

As I recall, the SES light is more like a summation of many different readings and sensors, and like most things digital, it don't take much to trigger it. I guess several things might be "slightly off center" but not badly enough to set a particular code - yet all of them added together triggers the light ....

Good info. Thanks.

My Actron is a scanner. It reads the codes and then it has a way of reading MIL codes. But they always seem to be the same thing as the other ones. It is only for 96 and newer. It has been pretty handy. It won't scan a diesel though.
