Saturn L200 oil light
Ok, so I've had to do some work on my 2003 Saturn L200 lately, most notably the fuel pump went bad and I replaced it. Somehow I didn't get the fuel gauge connected up right, so that doesn't work, but hey, it's running, and I'll fix that soon.
I do have another problem that I can't figure out, however. Whenever I start the car, all the indicator lights turn off (except the "low fuel one"... hehe), and then the change oil light soon comes on, dings about 8 times, then turns off. I can't find anywhere what this means. I know that if it stays on, it means the oil needs to be changed soon, but I can't determine why it would come on and chime then turn off. Anyone know? Could this have something to do with the fuel indicator not working? |
If it were my rig, I'd have the oil changed - and I'd drop a hint in the technician's ear to be sure and reset the change oil circuit.
The fuel low light is a problem at the back end of the car, not the front. Won't affect the oil issue |
Actually, I just changed the oil yesterday to see if that was the problem (and reset the indicator, of course). That being said, even if it was the reset button, the light would simply stay on constantly, not chime a few times then turn off.

It is surprising the number of times I have had this problem as a symptom of a defective sending unit.
