HI

I have a 1997 SW2 automatic, 114000 miles. The car has a rough idol when I am stopped with transmission in drive. It runs smooth in Park and netrual. It uses no oil and the plugs are a nice tan color, the gas milage is great. I have changed the plugs, air, fuel and tranmission filters. The transmisssion has no slippage. Does any one know if there is some kind of sensor that would effect the idol when it is in drive? It seems to get worse with cold weather.

thanks

Is it a rough idle or a vibration that comes through at the lower rpms in drive (at idle with foot on the brake)?

You are probably overdue for a torque axis (upper engine) mount. These usually go about every 70-100K mi and tend to transmit excessive vibration through to the passenger compartment.

If it is truly running rough, I would suggest a throttle body cleaning.

And consider changing the ECTS (Engine Coolant temp sensor), especially if the original is still in there. Replace with brass Saturn replacement. Replace the connector as well (Saturn only part).
