Anyone know how to program my 1998 SW2 for additional OEM keyless entry remotes? Service writer guy at the dealership showed me how to do it once by shorting two pins together in the diagnostic connector under the dash. Then you would press buttons on each remove you want the car to respond to. I need to add an additional remote I have to my Saturn and don’t remember the details of how to do it. Anybody know?

If the key is in the ON position during the programming procedure, the horn chirp will be disabled, if the key is in the OFF position, the horn chirp will be enabled. The horn will chirp when the lock button is pressed two times.

When reprogramming the remote control door lock reciever, All transmitters must be programmed at this time in order for the transmitters to operate the vehicle. Transmitters not programed at this time will not work and the procedure will have to be redone with all the transmitters.

1. Ground pin 4 to pin 8 of the data link connector (DLC).

2. The receiver will respond by locking and unlocking the doors, and activating the liftgate window release (if equipped) within 2 seconds. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously on the first transmitter to be programmed until the locks cycle (approximately 10 seconds).

3. Repeat step 2 for up to four total transmitters to be programmed (if available).

4. The receiver will respond by locking and unlocking the doors and activating the liftgate window release (if equipped) within 2 seconds. Remove the ground applied to the DLC.

5. Lock and unlock the doors in order to verify the transmitter operation.

6. Activate the rear trunk release in order to verify the transmitter operation.

Thanks. Sounds like what I remember the guy telling me years ago.

Mike:

I was wondering if you could help me on this one. All of
a sudden my remote keyless entry chirp mode changed. Now
instead of only chirping after I press the lock key
twice (as you described above), my 1998 Saturn SL2
chirps twice when I unlock and once when I lock. It is
very annoying and I would like it to revert to the
"normal" mode.

I have tried to re-sync (press the LOCK and UNLOCK
buttons for 7 seconds), but that did not get rid of the
chirp.

I have also tried to short pin 4 with pin 8 (as
described above), but instead of responding by locking
and unlocking the doors, it responded by chirping
several times. When I pressed the LOCK and UNLOCK it
proceeded to un-sync our receivers (the remote no longer
worked). I had to re-sync the remotes to make them work
again.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mae:l
