Default power door locks

I have a 1999 sw 1 with power door locks that do not work with the remote. someone told me that there is something under the dash or drivers door that needs to be replaced. I don't know what I am looking for. Anyone have any info what to look for? Thanks Wayne

Someone told you something needs to be replaced. Is that after they checked to see if the fob is operational? Is that after they checked and reprogrammed the fob?

Default Door Locks

The fob works fine I can set the alarm and open the rear hatch with it. I can't get the doors to work. Thanks Wayne

Are you sure there's not a blown fuse somewhere? I don't have a fob or PDL on my car, so have nothing to suggest other than that.

So you can arm the alarm with the doors unlocked? I guess theoretically that's possible. Though you'd have to be pushing the lock button on the fob to do so.

I'd consult a saturn friendly dealership to see if reprogramming is likely to fix this or if the RKE module is the issue.

O.K., I read the thread twice. Trying to understand exactly what is happening.
The door locks on your car are operated electronically. That is when you move the little door lock button on the door, what ever runs things generates an electronic signal that runs a solenoid, which locks the doors.
So if the question is this:
Will the doors lock? The answer it seems to me is this. If the button on the door causes the doors to lock, the answer is yes.
'Specially if the button on the drivers door locks all of them Which is either 2 or 4 doors depending on how many you have.
That test says the doors lock.
Now if the problem is that using the key fob, the doors on the car don't work. That seems to point at something wrong with the Key Fob. The doors will lock just fine. The key fob will not lock the doors, so it must be part of the problem.
Now what you do with it I have no clue. I have no FOB for my Saturn. You might try to find a GM dealer that will try to answer your question.
Keep in mind, your 1999 car is now 15 years old and it is all together possible that finding a dealer that has the capability of looking at the car a little hard and then finding parts if there is something that can be done about it.
Or you might be smart to find an O'Reilly's or Autozone where you can purchase a Haynes or Chilton repair manual that covers your car.

Default Power Door Locks

Well I found out why the door locks were not working The owner before me had removed the relays from the fuse block. I put 2 new relays in and the locks work fine. Thanks Wayne

wonder if he did that for a reason. Maybe his children kept trying to unlock the doors with the power switch and jump out.
