Default new rotors ,new pads ,still a grinding sound

2002 saturn sc2

replaced the brake pads (semi metallic) ran those on the old rotors for a few weeks .then bought new rotors at napa .
now the brakes make a grinding noise when coming to a slow stop .
when breaking hard and fast you dont hear it so much ,but when coming to a slow stop it sounds like grinding .

??????????????????

If old rotors were good w new pads then put the old rotors back on if they meet the minimum thickness spec. You can try exchanging new rotors but if you bought bargain basement grade rotors then you got what you paid for. I have had the scraping grinding w ceramic pads b/c they are just too hard.

Semi metallic is all I've ever used. My point was if your old rotors like your new pads then change it back if your rotors are in spec.

The only rotors I have had good luck with were Centric brand. Purchased from a real auto parts store. Never warped. Just did rear brakes 1000 mi ago. One new auto zone mid grade rotor already warped. I'll take it back. It just confirmed that I need to find a quality autoparts store outside Pittsburgh.

The rotors you bought prob had a bad finish on them. Cheap imported crap.
