Greeting all,


Always great to have a forum like this to get answers from those who have experienced it. I just bought a 1995 SL1 with only 74,000 miles and only minor bumper damage. Didn't notice these issue until I drove it around for a week but:


1. Vibrations of the entire car, especially on first startup of the day - at a stop vibrates harder when in gear, while in netruel or park it vibrations is a lot less. When at speed and moving around the vibration isn't very noticeable. I'm thinking it might be motor mounts or tranny mounts???Any gueses.....


2. Doesn't seem to happen any more but there was a delay and a hard bang with shifting directly from drive to reverse. Did okifI paused it netral first.... ???


3. Not sure but I heard one startup where itsounded like there was some grinding. But my uncle may havejust held the ignition key just a bit too long.


Any advice would be appreciated.

first problem is definently a motor mount, secorn problem is that the reverse gear nut is lose. if you have air tools say so in a post and i will tell you how to fix the transmission, if not, take it to saturn

 

Mine (also 95) did the reverse bang (and slow shifting) just before my alternator went. New alternator and all was fine. I heard a clogged valve body can also do this. Mine also vibrates (even with fresh tuneup, oil, etc...) but with 120k, it's just part of the Saturn charm
