Hey,

Got a '98 sw2 with an irratic high idle(5 speed). It does not happen all of the time. Sometimes when I get to a stop light the idle is around 2000 rpm. I turn the key off and on and it drops back to normal. I replaced the temp sensor under the egr valve. Had to directly solder the the leads to the sensor due to the connector being messed up. Wasn't about to pay $60 CDN to buy a connector from Saturn(robbery). Still has the problem. Checked for vacuum leaks. None present. What next? THis is annoying!!!! Anyone with any answers or things to check?

Thanks,

TR

My 93 SL was doing the same thing. It would idle at about 2K at start up, then drop to about 1000 after a few minutes. When I would drive, it would rev up when I put it in N. Here is what I did to fix it. First, I changed the PVC. It's a very easy fix, and only cost a few dollars. The next thing I did was change my fuel filter. To do this, I disconnected my battery. I don't know which of these things fixed it, but all the parts I replaced looked very old. I would suggest trying the same thing. I ran a pint of High millage Slick 50 gas treatment also. Now my idle is normal, and it runs very quiet. It has 140K miles on it.

Email me if that works.
